Night out drinking? Guests over for the big game? At the company soiree?
When you want to know if you (or your guests) are safe to get behind the wheel, you might consider a personal breathalyzer.
I've spent hours surfing the web, reading reviews & technical specs. By far my favorite is the BACtrack S80. It is on my wish list.
Fuel Cell sensor, just like the cops use. Very accurate, Needs recalibration annually. Reusable mouthpieces.
Drawbacks - makes beeps (like to tell you when to stop blowing), so not very discreet in a crowd. Accuracy drops when below freezing temps and over 104 *F - so I wouldn't rely on it if I was tailgating at a Packer's home game.
Like all breathalyzers - you gotta wait at least 20 min from your last drink to get an accurate reading.
Price runs about $150-200 on the company's website, And about $130 at the link below, including shipping.
Much cheaper than a DUI. Perhaps a great gift for your child's drinking age birthday gift?
If you're looking for a much cheaper alternative, that company also has the best reviewed semiconductor sensor personal use keychain version for around $30. Not as accurate, wont last as long as the S80. So I'd relegate this one as the party game version (not that I'd ever condone such as use)
